Warning: mild Black Panther spoilers ahead

Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther has a major part for Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaue, and now the man himself is teasing what would be on the villain’s mixtape.

Keeping with the comedic tone of the MCU and similar to the recent Thor: Ragnarok, Klaue emerged as an unlikely source of laughter in the movie. With an all-star cast that includes Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan and Serkis, the movie also wasn’t skimping on the star power either. Klaue may have played second fiddle to Jordan’s Erkil Killmonger, but it didn’t stop him having his time to shine, but just exactly what would be his musical taste?

Speaking to Games Radar, Serkis revealed what Klaue would be listening to while conducting his various nefarious schemes:

It certainly sounds like Klaue is a man of eclectic taste. The interview also took place alongside Black Panther star Martin Freeman, who had his own ideas on how Klaue’s musical tastes should honor his South African heritage:

“Everything from Mozart to jazz, actually. And Pink Floyd."

Serkis is referring to one scene in particular between Freeman’s Everett K. Ross and the wisecracking arms dealer. If you remember, Ross headed to a club in Busan where he met with Klaue about Wakanda’s vibranium. It was only a minor joke, but Ross laughed that Klaue and his men look like a band ready to drop a mixtape. Serkis then responded by saying he could link him to his Sound Cloud if he wants.

“A little bit of Boer folk music?”

Black Panther already had an impressive soundtrack thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s Billboard-topping album, but the movie didn’t have quite as much of a focus on music as something like Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn’s two movies saw Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord toe-tap this way through the cosmos as the audience also bopped along to Awesome Mixtape Vol. 1 and 2, so it is a shame that Klaue didn’t get to bring his own version to life.

Reprising his role from 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, there was much more of an expanded part for Klaue this time around, but the mixtape is surely a missed opportunity. Who knows what Coogler would’ve had the sinister South African listening to, but unwinding to some Mozart or a bit of folk music after a long day of weaponized terrorism certainly sounds like a peaceful way to finish the day. Sadly, we will probably never get to hear Klaue’s mixtape, but who knows, maybe Coogler could release it as a bonus feature on Black Panther’s DVD release?
